Boating Jet Boating
School has just ended and everyone can go off and enjoy the summer. Instead of spending the day at the beach or fishing, why not try something different this year with the whole family?
There are many ways to have fun on the water. You can row a boat on the lake or take a sail boat out to sea. There is something more thrilling than this and that's jet boating.
Some think that the motorboat or powerboat is the same as a jet boat. This is a misconception because they don't use a propeller but the water ejected from the back of the craft for propulsion.
The machine that makes this happen is called a pump jet which expels the water through the nozzle located at the stern.
The first jet boat was invented by Sir William Hamilton in 1954. These were designed to make vessels sail through shallow areas without the use of propellers. Today, they are used for a variety of functions such as surf rescue, farming, fishing, exploration, and pleasure boating and adventure tourism.
The biggest jet boats are those used by the navy. These crafts are sent out to patrol the coasts such as those used in South Africa. The country that produces most of these vessels in various lengths and sizes can be found in Queenstown, New Zealand.
A custom built design craft can be made according to the specifications given by the client and finished in a few months. There are also some companies in the United States that can make them to suit the needs of the customer.
Jet boating is suitable for all ages and fitness levels that can be enjoyed the whole year round. After putting on the life jacket, all you have to do is sit back and relax while the driver takes care of the rest.
The jet boat will power its way through some narrow river gorges which are quite near the rock faces as well as shallow water channels and banks of braided rivers.
Those who have a chance to visit New Zealand can schedule a tour to places such as Queenstown and Canterbury. Those who want some extreme adventures can try the rivers in South Island’s Buller or the Makarora regions in the North.
The head of the family can get a good deal since some packages come with rafting and a helicopter ride which will really make this summer an experience to remember.
