More and more people are venturing into boating now. The adventure of feeling the rush of air and smelling the scent of the ocean is comparable. It is something worth the try and experience.

However, there are still many people out there, like you probably, who may still be a bit green in this field, but just as eager to take the dip. Such should not be seen as a big disadvantage. Take such instances as the drive to learn more about boating.

There are many aspects in boating that has to be given attention to. It requires basic skills in navigation. You also has to know the weather forecast for the day to ensure a safe trip. All the equipment and devices needed should also be on board.
One aspect that must not be undermined is the ‘where’ of the boating adventure. Determining the destination and body of water to take will have a lot to do with the wonderful experience.
Some people will boat on bay and estuaries. There are those who would like to take a boating trip on the lake. Others would like to traverse the length of a river.
Here are some tips in determining where to boat for a worthwhile trip:
1. Find a good place to launch the boat. The launching area must give you a good access to the waters.
2. Inquire ahead if a permit is needed. Some bodies of water are under state regulation that registration requirement is needed. Make sure the papers are properly taken care of.
3. For beginners, don't sail away too far from the shore. It is best to always be in a good distance in case help will be needed.
4. Be aware also of state or national boundaries especially for those who reside in places that are near other geographical bodies. This is to avoid going to unfamiliar jurisdiction.
5. There are anchorage areas to be aware of. Run a slow speed when passing by these places.
6. Know which way the boats coming from the opposite direction will usually take to avoid collision.
7. For safety purposes, stay away from where tow boats and barges are stationed.
